Music Mentoring Program

for QueerS and BIPOC

We offer electronic music courses in Berlin.

They are for queers, BIPOC, trans, agender, and non-binary people.

The courses are free.

They run from March to June 2024. You can sign up at the bottom of this page.

Queer and BIPOC music producers don't appear much in techno music.

They often can't join expensive music schools.

Our program wants to help these producers.

We want to give them a place to learn without judgment.

They can work on their music skills here.

We have two courses.

They focus on dark and experimental techno.

You can pick one or both.

ABLETON LIVE COURSE

It runs from March to April 2024. It is for people with some Ableton skills.

You'll learn about sound, music production, live play, and mixing.

You will make a music track.

You can join a group to talk with others and get advice.

You can watch the workshops again.

You also get two hours with a mentor.

The Ableton course covers many topics.

You'll learn about sound making, beats, effects, creative music making, foley, and spatial recording.

MODULAR SYNTH COURSE

This runs from May to June 2024. It is for beginners and people with some experience.

You will learn about synths and sound.

You'll find out how to play live.

You can join a group for support.

You can watch the workshops again.

You also get two hours with a mentor.

The Modular Synth course teaches you about modular synths.

You'll build a module, learn about industrial techno, and play live.

The program is for you if you are queer, BIPOC, have money troubles, have learning problems, or want to learn music production in a safe space.

When: The Ableton course is on Thursday and Friday afternoons from mid-March to end of April.

The Modular course is on Thursday and Friday afternoons from start of May to end of June.

Cost: It's free.

Where: The classes are in Berlin studios.

Language: We'll teach in English.

Can I join only some workshops: No, you have to sign up for the whole course.

What equipment do I need: For Ableton, you need a laptop with Ableton Live and headphones.

For Modular, you don't need your own synth.

Learning help: Yes, we can offer extra help if needed.

Why we focus on Queer and BIPOC: They need more support in the music scene.

We want to help them get seen and heard.

Can I take both courses: Yes, you can, but you don't have to.

Are studios wheelchair accessible: Some are not fully accessible. Please contact us if you have questions or worries.
